Ethiopia Partnership

Working with Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus and the Keep a Girl in School Program

“Come help us,” is the request repeated to us by the leaders of the poorest ethnic group in Ethiopia. This two million member tribe has roamed the barren desert of Ethiopia for millennia. Remote and neglected by the rest of the world, they refer to themselves as “The Forgotten People.”

WHO DO WE SERVE AND HOW?

God is at work in the desert bringing the gospel and community development to a group we call “our friends” because of security concerns. Our partnership has involved digging wells, establishing health clinics, improving food security, and more. We also started the “Keep a Girl in School” program that sponsors the young girls to be able to attend primary and secondary school and even college. In addition, we support the Women Self-Help Groups (WSG) that encourages joint savings among women.

WHO JOINS IN OUR MINISTRY?

This partnership links several congregations in the U.S. and the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus. Typically in October, we send a team to the desert to encourage and support the good ministry God is doing among our friends in Ethiopia.
